Når jeg skriver dette er det søndag, og 17. mai nærmer seg med stormskritt. Dette er jo selvsagt dagen for is, brus, pølser, flagg, glade barn og barnetog. Men for mange er det også dagen for en herlig brokost/brunch med familie eller gode venner. Eller dagen da hele storfamilien kappes om hvem som er best i sekkeløp, ringspill eller potetløp mens man spiser pavlova, eggedosis, mer pølser og is innimellom slagene. Det er tradisjonene som preger denne dagen, hva man gjør, hvem man gjør det med og hva man spiser. Det meste er som i fjor, men med små variasjoner.

Det kan fort bli mye usunn mat på 17. mai, og det er jo helt greit. Det er jo bare en dag. Men derfor lader jeg opp til dagen med en litt lettere middag på mandag, nemlig spinatsuppe med egg. Har du tid, lyst og anledning, går det fint å bytte ut ut spinaten med brennesle. Fremgangsmåte og mengder er akkurat de samme.

Da jeg var barn, dekket vi ofte langbord i gata og grillet middagsmaten sammen med naboene på 17. mai om kvelden. Det var en hyggelig tradisjon. Nå spiser vi spekemat, det er også en fin måte å feire dagen på. Mange legger mye energi i frokosten denne dagen, og orker kanskje ikke så mye til middag, eller spiser rester. Denne gangen kommer jeg med forslag til hva man kan dekke bordet med til en 17. mai frokost.

Resten av uken blir det forholdsvis enkel mat med unntak av lørdag da jeg slår til med en skikkelig digg paella. Det er virkelig flott selskapsmat, så bruk den største pannen du har, lag en stor porsjon og inviter noen på middag. Det blir garantert hyggelig rundt bordet. Ha en fin uke og 17. mai.
