Fortsatt henger trærne fulle av frukt, så i dag har jeg laget en ny runde med syltetøy. Denne gangen har jeg laget et plomme og eplesyltetøy. På den måten fikk jeg brukt både epler og plommer. Dessuten jevner eplene syltetøyet slik at det blir litt mer tyktflytende. Så selv med forholdsvis lite sukker og uten syltepulver er dette syltetøyet mindre flytende enn det andre plommesyltetøyet jeg pleier å lage.

Jeg er usikker på hva slags plommer det er vi har, men de er i hvert fall blålilla utenpå og gule inni. Og de gir en fantastisk bringebærrød farge til syltetøyet. Eplene jeg har brukt er vanlige glassepler. De smaker ikke av all verden, men gir som sagt litt struktur og fylde til syltetøyet.

Mitt plomme og eplesyltetøy er krydret med vanilje og egner seg godt til å spise på brødskiva sammen med litt kesam som på bildet, eller sammen med ost.

Ingredienser

  • 650 gr plommer uten sten
  • 350 gr. glassepler uten skall og kjerne
  • 300 gr sukker
  • 1 vaniljestang

Fremgangsmåte

  • Skjær plommene og eplene opp i småbiter.
  • Legg frukten sammen med sukker og en splittet vaniljestang i en gryte og kok opp.
  • La syltetøyet koke i ca. 20 minutter.
  • Ta vekk det hvite skummet som samler seg på toppen etterhvert.
  • Kok eller damp syltetøyglass for å sterilisere dem.
  • Fyll de fortsatt varme glassene helt opp med syltetøy.
  • Sett på lokkene og snu glassene oppned og la dem stå slik til de er helt kalde.
  • Oppbevar glassene mørkt og kjørlig.
