Mange av oss – i hvert fall jeg – ønsker at alt skal være så fint på julaften når vi setter oss til bords, borddekning, maten og stemningen. Og ekstra morsomt blir det hvis jeg kan imponere litt. Maten, for mitt vedkommende, består av ribbe, julepølser og kanskje medisterkaker fulgt av melne poteter, surkål og svisker. Julekveld uten julepølse blir litt feil. Men litt kjedelige er jo de litt lubne pølsebitene der de ligger og glinser på fatet etter et stevnemøte med litt ribbefett. Det kan man gjøre noe med.

For et par år siden så jeg et bilde i en brosjyre fra Gilde, eller MatPrat eller noe i den duren. Den viste pølsesnabber med kryss i enden. Det er såre enkelt og tar bare et øyeblikk å gjøre, men det er veldig dekorativt og dersom man ikke vet hvordan, ser det nokså imponerende ut. Den eneste forskjellen fra å skjære pølsene i passe serveringsstykker og steke, er at i hver ende av pølsebitene skjæres det et kryss eller seks segmenter og så stekes de. Jo dypere kutt som lages, desto mer spriker endene. Det blir en smakssak.
