Det er lett å forstå hvorfor brennende kjærlighet heter akkurat det. Retten har etter min mening en helt perfekt balanse mellom myk og mild potetstappe og salt og sprøtt bacon. Det er rett og slett ikke rart at man får både litt hjerteklapp og skjelv i knærne når denne står på bordet.

At brennende kjærlighet er lett å lage og billig mat, gjør også at den er perfekt studentmat. Den sender i hvert fall meg direkte tilbake til studietiden i Danmark, der retten så vidt jeg vet har sitt opphav. Det var en av mine studiekamerater som ble kalt for Kylling som lagde denne, og han var veldig nøye med at potetstappen skulle være helt glatt. Han brukte en miksmaster og kjørte på til det ikke var en eneste liten potetklump igjen. Om du liker en helt glatt eller litt grov stappe er selvsagt helt opp til deg. Jeg liker gjerne at det er en litt grov konsistens. Lag stappen akkurat som du vil, godt blir det uansett for smaken er jo den samme.

Som regel liker jeg å bruke bacon fra et helt stykke og ikke skiver som blir strimlet opp, men denne gangen var det baconskiver jeg hadde, og da ble det det. Bacon i biter gir litt mer tyggemotstand, og det liker jeg.

Ved siden av synes jeg det er godt med kokte grønne grønnsaker som brokkoli eller aspargesbønner, men en frisk salat er også godt. Og så pleier jeg å være ganske så rundhåndet med grovhakket flat persille. Det gjør retten litt friskere, for det er jo ikke til å nekte for at dette er en nokså mektig rett.

Ingredienser

  • 1 kg melne poteter
  • 1,5 dl matfløte
  • 1,5 dl melk
  • 50 gr smør
  • salt og pepper
  • 300 gr bacon
  • 1 stor løk

Fremgangsmåte

  • Kok potetene helt møre.
  • Mens potetene koker, skjær baconet opp i terninger eller strimler og løken i småbiter. Stek begge deler til baconet er gyllent og sprøtt.
  • Varm opp fløte/melkeblandingen.
  • Skrell potetene og mos dem.
  • Spe med den varme fløtemelken og rør inn smøret til slutt.
  • Smak til med salt og pepper.

Server potetstappen med bacon på toppen og gjerne noe grønt ved siden av. Jeg synes det er godt med kokte grønnsaker som brokkoli eller aspargesbønner, men en frisk salat er også fint.
