Her får du oppskriften på en deilig, varmende rekegryte med indisk smak som passer ypperlig på litt grå og sure dager, for denne retten er alt annet enn grå. Rød og gul paprika og rosa reker gir farge på retten og kanskje også på dagen. Krydder som ingefær, chili, hvitløk, spisskummen og gurkemeie sørger for varme i en litt vintertufs skrott. Og med litt grønt på toppen er denne rekegryten en fryd både for ganen og øyet.

Oppskriften ser kanskje litt overveldende ut med mange ingredienser og steg i tilberedelsen. Men når det gjelder ingrediensene det er stort sett krydder som kan være kjekke å ha i hus uansett. Fremgangsmåten er også veldig rett frem, når alt er skåret opp tar det ikke mer enn ca. 15. minutter å få retten ferdig. Setter du på ris eller byggryn samtidig som du begynner å skjære opp, har du middagen ferdig på mindre enn en halv time. Rekegryte med indisk smak er med andre ord en ypperlig hverdagsrett. Synes du det er litt pes å pille en kilo reker, kan du jo kjøpe ferdig pillede reker på boks. Regn da med at du trenger ca. halvparten så mye i vekt.

Ingredienser

  • 1 kg reker med skall (alt. 0,5 kg pillede reker)
  • 1 rød paprika
  • 1 gul paprika
  • 1 gul løk
  • 2 tomater
  • olje til steking
  • 1 ts brune sennepsfrø
  • 3 fedd hvitløk
  • 2 cm ingefær
  • 1 rød (sterk) chili
  • 1/2 ts chiliflakes
  • 1 ts gurkemeie
  • 1 ts spisskummen
  • 1 dl vann

Fremgangsmåte

  • Begynn med å gjøre alt klart.
  • Pill rekene og sett til side.
  • Skjær paprikaen i tynne strimler og løken i tynne skiver.
  • Skjær tomatene i grove biter.
  • Mål opp krydder og riv/finhakk hvitløk og ingefær.
  • Varm opp oljen i en stekepanne og ha oppi sennepsfrøene. La de surre i ett minutt.
  • Tilsett løk, hvitløk og ingefær og la det surre 2-3 minutter til løken begynner å få farge.
  • Tilsett paprika og krydder og la det surre enda et par minutter.
  • Tilsett tomatene og la det småputre i ca 10 minutter, til tomatene begynner å gå i oppløsning. Om det blir tørt, tilsett litt vann.
  • Tøm rekene oppi helt til slutt. De er allerede kokt så de skal bare bli varme.

Dryss gjerne over litt grønt om du har det, og server straks med ris, eller kokte byggryn som jeg brukte.
