Marinara saus er en slags italiensk altmuligsaus. Den er tomatsuasen oppå pizzaen, den kan fint brukes til pasta og er også fin å bruke til stekt eller kokt kjøtt. Denne enkle tomatsausen er altså utgangspunktet for mye god mat. Sausen kan også fint suppleres med stekt kjøttdeig, bacon, kokt kyllingkjøtt eller skinke til en litt mer mettende spagettisaus.

Dessuten er den super å fryse ned, så lag gjerne dobbel porsjon når du først er i gang. Med denne i fryseren er aldri et kjapt og godt måltid langt unna.

Min marinara er en nokså enkel versjon av marinara saus. På nettet registrerer jeg at det foregår en akademisk diskusjon om hvorvidt marinara skal inneholde hvitløk eller ikke. For meg, som synes at det meste blir bedre med litt hvitløk, er det ingen tvil, hvitløken må med.  Men nå vet du det altså, hvitløk er valgfritt, gjør som du selv synes er best. Andre kan ha kapers, oliven eller rødvin i sausen også, men her setter jeg en strek. Min saus inneholder løk, hvitløk, tomater, salt, pepper og oregano. Og kanskje ørlite grann sukker dersom jeg synes tomatene er litt sure. Jeg bruker oregano, det er for meg den ultimative italienske urten, men en eller flere andre urter kan også fint brukes. Smak det frem til hva som blir din favoritt. Prøv timian, menian, fersk basilikum eller ørlite grann rosmarin. Her er min versjon:
