Chili con carne er en populær middagsrett hjemme hos oss. Både fordi det smaker så godt og fordi det er en lettvint og grei middag å få i stand. Lag gjerne dobbel porsjon og frys ned, så har du til en annen dag du har enda dårligere tid.

I denne oppskriften er det forholdsvis lite kjøtt (ca. 100 gr. per person) og mye bønner. Bønner gir god metthetsfølelse og drøyer derfor retten godt. Dessuten er jo bønner godt og sunt og også greit for lommeboken. En skikkelig vinner på middagsbordet til hverdags med andre ord. I denne retten har jeg brukt hermetiske bønner, både brune bønner og kidneybønner. Bønner som man koker selv smaker etter min mening mye bedre enn de hermetiske, men av og til er det greit å ha litt hermetikk i bakhånd. Å tilberede bønner er jo ikke akkurat gjort på 15 minutter. Men dersom du bruker hermetiske, er det veldig viktig å skylle dem godt, for laken de ligger i er ikke god. Det eneste unntaket er dersom du bruker tomatbønner, for da skal jo tomatsausen også brukes.

Selv om det krever litt planlegging og mye tid å tilberede bønnene selv, er det slett ikke vanskelig. Legg ganske enkelt bønnene i vann natten over. Ut på dagen helles vannet av og de kokes i nytt vann i ca. 1 time, alt etter hvilken bønnetype det er. Dessuten, når man først koker bønner er det greit å lage en stor porsjon, for de er veldig greie å fryse ned, og så har man på lager til en annen gang. Etter at de er kokt, kan de brukes akkurat som hermetiske bønner.

Ingredienser

  • 400 gr karbonadedeig
  • 1 stor løk
  • 3 fedd hvitløk
  • 2 ss olje til steking
  • 1 boks brune bønner (ca. 350 gr)
  • 1 boks kidney bønner (ca. 350 gr)
  • 1/2 glass tomatpure
  • 1 dl vann
  • 2 bokser tomater
  • 1 chili
  • 2 paprikaer
  • 1 ts oregano
  • 1/2 ts spisskummen
  • 1 ts paprika
  • 1/2 ts salt
  • nykvernet pepper

Fremgangsmåte

  • Begynn med å finhakke løk og hvitløk og fres det i oljen til det har blitt blankt.
  • Tilsett karbonadedeigen og stek den sammen med løken til den har blitt lysebrun.
  • Imens moses de brune bønnene med en gaffel.
  • Tilsett tomatpure, de moste bønnene og krydder og fres et par minutter til.
  • Ha i tomatene og chilien og evt. vann dersom det ser litt tørt ut.
  • La det koke i minst 15 minutter. Det gjør ikke noe om det får koke lengre.
  • Skjær paprikaen i biter og la den koke med de siste fem minuttene sammen med kidneybønnene.
  • Smak til og juster evt. med mer krydder dersom du ønsker at det.

Server med kokt ris, salat og gjerne en rømmedressing.
