Husbond og jeg skulle kose oss med sjømat i helgen, og jeg dro i butikken for å se hva de kunne friste med. Jeg tenkte å kjøpe litt av hvert og lage et skalldyrfat. I fiskedisken fikk jeg øye på noe jeg har sett noen ganger i det siste, men aldri smakt før, nemlig argentinske kjempereker. De var kanskje 15 cm. lange og så ut som nettopp noen forvokste reker.

Jeg hadde aldri smakt dem før, så jeg spurte damen i disken. Hun fortalte at de smakte mer som reker enn scampi, bare litt kraftigere smak. Jeg kjøpte noen stykker og tenkte at det kunne være et spennende tilskudd til den andre mer velkjente sjømaten. Og riktig så gode var de. Jeg vil imidlertid ikke si at de smakte som reker. Min mening er at argentinske kjempereker smaker mer i retning av sjøkreps. Det gjør dem ikke akkurat mindre attraktive synes jeg. At de også var mer robuste med tanke på varmebehandling var også et stort pluss i min bok.

Tilberedningen er så enkel at det nesten er flaut å kalle fremgangsmåten en oppskrift. Du finner allikevel en «oppskrift» nedenfor. Selv om det er altså såre enkelt. Varm opp olje i en panne og stek et par minutter på hver side. Sleng over på en tallerken, dryss salt og pepper over og spis med sitron dryppet over. Dette er kjempegodt.

I den anbefalte mengden i oppskriften er er tenkt at dette er en av flere retter, eller at det skal serveres som en forrett.

Ingredienser

  • 4 argentinske kjempereker
  • 2 fedd hvitløk i skiver
  • rapsolje
  • flaksalt
  • nykvernet pepper
  • sitron

Fremgangsmåte

  • Varm ojen i en jernpanne til den er skikkelig varm
  • Ha oppi hvitløken og la den surre 20-30 sekunder før du legger kjemperekene i pannen.
  • Stek 2 minutter på hver side.
  • Dryss over flaksalt og nykvernet pepper

Server med sitron ved siden av til å klemme over. Spis med fingrene som vanlige reker. Vel bekomme.
