Etter en temmelig uheldig episode med en gresskarsuppe for 10-15 år siden, har gresskar vært mer eller mindre fraværende hjemme hos oss. Det har kun fått innpass til halloween, og da stort sett kun til dekorasjonsformål. Nå hadde jeg imidlertid lyst til å prøve igjen, og valget alt på den lille gresskartypen hokkaido. Og la meg bare si det med en gang, jeg er frelst. Ovnsbakt hokkaido gresskar er kjempegodt.

Det er sikkert stor forskjell på hvilken type gresskar man velger. De gangene jeg har prøvd gresskar synes jeg de har hatt en emmen smak. Men dette hadde en mild, søtlig smak litt i retning av søtpotet. Hokkaidogresskar er også lettvinte å lage og spise. Størrelsen er omtrent som en vanlig kålrot, og dermed er de ganske lette å håndtere. Dessuten kan de spises med hud og hår – ja i hvert fall skallet, da. Frøene må du ta ut, men det er lett som en plett med en skje. Og om ikke alt dette er nok til å overbevise deg, så er det faktisk sunt og kalorifattig også.

Ovnsbakt hokkaido gresskar passer veldig godt til høstens lammestek, eller annet stekt kjøtt. Det passer også godt som en selvstendig vegetarrett med godt grovt brød til. Da ville jeg nok servert det med en yoghurt eller rømmedressing ved siden av som en kontrast til den søtlige smaken.

Ingredienser

  • 2 små gresskar (400-500 gr hver)
  • olivenolje
  • 1 fedd hvitøk
  • 2-3 kvister timian
  • salt og pepper

Fremgangsmåte

  • Forvarm ovnen til 200 grader.
  • Vask gresskarene godt. Skjær dem i to og ta ut frøene. Skjær deretter i tynne båter.
  • Hell litt olje i en ildfast form og legg gresskarbåtene i. Hell over litt mer olje og gni ut slik at gresskarbåtene er dekket med et tynt oljelag.
  • Dryss på salt, pepper, finhakket hvitløk og timianblader.
  • Bak i ovnen i ca. 30 minutter.

Server varme eller romtempererte.

Tips

Her kan du slå deg løs med forskjellige urter. Gresskaret tåler mange smakstilsetninger så tilpass gjerne til det du skal servere det til. Urter som passer bra er salvie og rosmarin. Persille, estragon og gressløk er også godt, men da kan du vente til etter at gresskaret er bakt.
