Jeg har ikke så mange blomster i hagen min, men en del er det jo og en god del av disse er spiselige i tillegg til at de er vakre. Det er morsomt å pynte en matrett eller en kake med vakre blomster, men før du gjør det så er det lurt å forsikre seg om at blomsten er spiselig, eller i det minste ikke er giftig. Alle blomstene på bildet over er spiselige. Når du skal bruke blomster i maten er det selvsagt viktig at de ikke har vært sprøytet med gift. Avskårne blomster i butikken er det. Men med blomster plukket i hagen har du full kontroll.  

Roser
LIllemors-sjokoladenirvana

De vakre kronbladene kan brukes som de er, eller de kan kandiseres. Her er de brukt som de er på Lillemors sjokoladenirvana. Det er enkelt å kandisere roser. Skill eggeplommen fra eggehviten Pisk hviten lett. Pensle ett og ett roseblad på begge sider. Klapp av eggehviten med et kjøkkenpapir, slik at det bare er en tynn film igjen. Dryss sukker på begge sider og legg til tørk på bakepapir i et par dager. Se gjerne denne videoen fra Moseplassen den illustrerer fint hvordan det gjøres. Kandiserte roseblader er vaker på kaker og desserter.

 

Agurkurt
Breiflabb-med-agruk-og-kantarell
Denne planten har vakre blå blomster. Den smaker svakt av agurk og har stengel og bladverk som minner litt om agurkplanten, men det blir altså ikke agurker på denne. Det er på grunn av blomstene man har denne planten. Blomstene er fine å pynte med, eller frys dem inn i isterninger og du har de flotteste isterninger til sommerfesten. Her pynter den tallerkenen med breiflabb med agurk og kantareller.

 

Stemorsblomster og fioler
Stemorsblomster og fioler kan brukes på samme måte som roseblader. De er flotte på kaker og desserter, eller kanskje oppå salaten. De smaker ikke så mye, men dekorative er de.

 

Salvie

Pasta-med-salviesmør I fjor plantet jeg en liten salvieplante, og i år har den blitt en diger busk. Og i år overrasket den meg med nydelige blå blomster. Blomstene smaker ikke sterkt som bladene gjør, men har nesten en litt søtlig smak. Her er pynter salvieblomster en bolle med pasta i salviesmør. Oppskrift kommer snart.

 

Kjørvel, persille og koriander
Disse urtene har jeg mest for bladenes skyld, men de har blomster også. De får blomster som minner litt om hundekjeks, men i motsetning til hundekjeks som er giftig, er disse trygge å bruke i maten. Det er kanskje ikke så spennende å få få en slik blomst i munnen, men de florlette skyene med hvite blomster er dekorative og kan i hvert fall brukes til på å pynte opp mang en rett.

 

Lavendel
De fleste kjenner vel den sterkt parfymerte og karakteristiske duften av lavendel. Blomstene har den samme smaken. Jeg har ikke brukt denne i maten, men vet at det er en del kaker og desserter som inneholder lavendel.

 

Det ser selvsagt også blomster i hagen som ikke er spiselige. Dersom du har sprøytet med ugressmiddel, bør du selvsagt ikke spise blomstene. Dessuten er det de som er giftige. Sjekk listen fra helsenorge.no – giftinformasjon dersom du lurer på en bestemt blomst.

Joda, den er spiselig. Vi har spist dem flere ganger i sommer. Er pen i salaten og smaker litt mildere enn bladene.
