La meg komme med en bekjennelse: Jeg er et radiomenneske. Jeg elsker å lytte, og kan høre på så mangt. Lytting passer så bra sammen med andre aktiviteter. Helt siden jeg var barn har jeg hørt på radio; Barnetimen, Hei og Etter skoletid. Som barn tror jeg nesten det eneste jeg satte grensen ved var Nyheter på samisk. Fiskerimeldingen, børskurser og trim for eldre fikk passere i mangel på noe bedre. Etter hvert ble disse programmene avløst av lørdagskrim, fredagsunderholdning, 10 på topp og mye annet. Nå er det Sommeren i P2 og påskelabyrinten i påsken, Ut i verden, kulturstripa, Ekko, Dagsnytt atten  og listen er uendelig mye lengre. Nærradioene kom med reklame, flåsete programledere, mye listepop og kjapp underholdning. Bra nok til sitt bruk, men fortsatt foretrekker jeg programmer som er langsommere, der programmet går i dybden med et tema. Programmer jeg kan lære noe av rett og slett.

For noen år siden ble jeg oppmerksom på fenomenet podcaster, og med disse åpnet en helt ny verden seg for meg. Ikke bare kan jeg høre på favorittprogrammene mine når jeg selv vil, men utvalget viste seg jo å være helt enormt når jeg begynte å utforske utenlandske podcaster også. Nedenfor finner du en liste over mine favortittpodcaster om mat. De fleste på listen nedenfor er amerikanske. Det er ikke fordi jeg ikke vil høre på noe annet, men fordi jeg ikke har oppdaget så mange andre gode (ennå?). Splendid table
Dette er en amerikansk podcast av et radioprogram som har holdt det gående i mer enn 20 år. Programmet som er preget av godt journalistisk håndverk, kjærlighet til mat og alt som har med mat å gjøre og en god porsjon nysgjerrighet og selvfølgelig gode radiostemmer.

Det tar for seg et bredt spekter av temaer gjennom reportasjer og intervjuer med forskjellige matfolk, som kokker, restauranteiere, kokebokforfattere, bønder, vitenskapsfolk og mange flere.

Podcasten varer i ca. 1 time og kommer ut en gang i uken.

 

Gastropod
Gastropod looks at food through the lens of science and history. Slik introduserer programlederne denne podcasten og det er en meget treffende beskrivelse. Med ett fast tema hver gang forsøker de to programlederne virkelig å gå i dybden med en matvare, ingrediens eller fenomen. Temavalget spriker voldsomt. Alt fra sitroner, smør og salt til mikrober, iskrem og slanking har stått på menyen. Programlederne er underholdende å høre på og det er alltid noe nytt og interessant å lære.

Episodene varer i ca. 1 time og kommer ut hver 14. dag.

 

Vaffel
Norsk podcast med matbloggerne bak Spiselandslaget og Ett kjøkken i Istanbul.  De to programlederne inviterer deg inn på kjøkkenet og småpluderer om ett utvalgt tema i hver episode. Første sesong ble nettopp avsluttet som seg hør og bør for enhver meny med et avsnitt om dessert.

Hver episode varer i 30-45 minutter.

 

Radio Cherry Bomb
Dette er en podcast om kvinner og mat. En episode består som regel av et par intervjuer med kvinner som har oppnådd et eller annet i matverdenen. Det kan være alt fra kokebokforfattere, kokker, bloggere, journalister, produsenter eller andre som på en eller annen måte har gjort seg bemerket. Programmet er laget i New York, og er nokså sentrert rundt det som skjer i denne byen, men jeg liker intervjuformen, programlederen og synes det er inspirerende å høre om alle disse kvinnene som har lykkes.

Det er ukentlige episoder som varer omtrent en time.

 

Special sauce
Dette er en podcast fra grunnleggeren av Serious Eats, et amerikansk matnettsted. Hver episode består av et lengre intervju med matglade mennesker. Intervjuobjektene er ikke nødvendigvis fra matverdenen, men temaene de snakker om er alltid matrelatert. Dette er hyggelige intervjuer dersom du har litt tid å slå ihjel.

Ukentlige episoder som varer ca. en time.

 

Olive
Det britiske magasinet Olive har en podcast. Disse tar for seg et bredt spekter av temaer innenfor mat og drikkefeltet, og går ganske i dybden med ett tema per episode.

Ukentlige episoder med litt varierende lengde, alt fra 25 -50 minutter.

 

Burnt toast
Burnt toast er en podcast fra gjengen bak Food52. Den minner litt om Gastropod, på den måten at den stort sett har ett tema hver gang. Temaene er veldig smale, og kanskje litt sære. Meningen er å gi lytteren litt mat-trivia, som kan komme godt med neste gang han eller hun trenger et samtaleemne i selskapslivet. Eksempler kan være historien bak komikere og bananskall, den verste maten som er servert i det Hvite hus og mye mer.

Denne kommer ikke ut med flere episoder, men det er fortsatt mulig å høre på gamle episoder.

 

Andre
Det finnes selvfølgelig utrolig mange flere podcaster. Jeg hører også på The Sporkful, Bon Appétit av og til på Radio Heritage Network finnes det en lang rekke forskjellige podcaster med mer eller mindre smale nedslagsfelt som japansk mat, ølbrygging, mathistorie og mye mye mer. Her skulle det virkelig være noe for en hver smak.
